Bridal Gown Alterations – What to expect.

 

 

On average there will be 4 fittings.

Fitting #1

Bring your gown, undergarments and shoes that you will be wearing.

 

All alterations required will be discussed such as fitting the bodice, hemming, repairs etc.  A written estimate of the cost for all alterations needed.  Please keep in mind that sometimes the estimate can change.  This rarely happens but on occasion the bride may change her mind regarding what they want done to their gown, and there could be manufacturing defects uncovered during the alteration process.   The bride will be contacted should any price changes occur.

 

We will also discuss bustling options and steaming/pressing options.

 

Fitting #2

Bring your undergarments and shoes.

 

Work completed during the first fitting will be checked and the hem will be pinned.

 

Most hems are 2.5cm (1”) off the floor.  This allows for a full length look and a comfortable walk.

 

Fitting #3

Bring your undergarments, shoes and veil.

 

Working completed during the second fitting will be checked.  Bustle style will be selected and pinning will be done.

 

Fitting #4

All work will be double checked.  Bustle management will be explained.  It is a good idea to bring the person who will be handling the bustle so she can have a lesson on how to manage the bustle.

 

Steaming/pressing will be discussed and the final pick-up date will be set.

 

(If steaming/pressing is being done elsewhere the gown can go home with the bride.)

 

 

Basic Bridal Gown Alterations – Cost

 

Bottom Hem                                                      $60 - $125  Cost varies with the number of layers, front of skirt

Bodice Adjustments                                       $45 - $85  Cost varies with the number of seams and boning

Strap Length Adjustment                             $20 - $40   Cost varies due to the type of strap.

 

Create Bustle                                                     $50

 

French Bustle                                                    $65

 

Steaming/Pressing                                          $50 - $75  Includes veil & crinoline.

Bridesmaid and Flower Girl Dress Alterations

 

Bottom Hem                                                      $35 - $50  Cost varies with the number of layers & embellishment.

 

Chiffon Hem                                                      $40                                                                 

 

Adjust Side Seams                                           $20

 

Adjust Straps                                                     $20- $40  Cost varies due to type of strap.

 

Steaming/Pressing                                          $20 - $50
